WEST BOYLSTON: Richard J. Farraher, Sr. , 47, of 175 West Boylston St. , formerly of Auburn, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, in UMass Memorial Healthcare- University Campus, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 16 years, Karen L. (Kinney) Farraher; a son, Richard J, Farraher, Jr. of Southbridge; a brother, Robert J. Farraher and his wife Audrey of Charlton; a grandson, Austin Farraher of Southbridge; a brother-in-law, Jack D. Banfill and a cousin, Paula (Farraher) Early, both of Worcester; uncles, aunts, cousins and many, many friends. He also leaves a best friend, Charlie E. Hayes of Templeton, who helped Rick during his illness. He was born in Southbridge, son of the late John D. and Verna M. (Hickey) Farraher. He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School where he was a star basketball player making it to the Clark Tournament. He lived in Auburn before moving to West Boylston in 2002. Rick was assistant grocery manager at the Park'n Shop Supermarket in Auburn where he worked for 5 years until retiring in 2002, due to illness. He previously worked for 10 years at Presmet in Worcester, now known as G. K. N. He was a former member of the Auburn Sportsman's Club and loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandson, Austin. CALLING HOURS will be from 6 to 8 p. m. , Monday, Dec. 19, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , Worcester. After cremation, burial of ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
