Richard Kubik

WORCESTER – Richard W. Kubik, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Frank and Sophie Kubik. Rich graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester. He worked as a supervisor for the Worcester Parks and Recreation Department, where he managed Green Hill Park for many years. He was an avid fisherman who fished throughout the year. His family fondly remembers pre-dawn ice fishing excursions to Spectacle and Comet Ponds along with fishing around the Wachusett Reservoir during the warmer months. Rich was a scuba diver who dove for lobsters on the Atlantic coast. He shared his passion for fishing with his stepchildren, nieces and nephews and great-nephew. Rich loved being outdoors, tending to his gardens that were abundant with flowers and hostas. Rich was also a pet lover, owning many dogs and cats over the years. Throughout his life, Rich always looked after and helped his older brother Franny. Rich was married to Pamela Grenier and served as a father to her two children Nichole and Chris. Later in life, Rich fell in love with Jacqueline Ricks, and the two enjoyed many years together before his passing. He leaves behind his stepson, Christopher Grenier of Anchorage, AK; his stepdaughter, Nichole Grenier of HI; a sister, Virginia Petronio of Shrewsbury; five nieces and nephews, Joan Hatfield and her husband, Christopher of Framingham, Susan Petronio of Crested Butte, CO, Lynda Forney of Waltham, Virginia Kilroy and her husband, Scott of Flushing, NY; James Petronio and his girlfriend, Jennifer Parks of Worcester; and several great nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Francis Kubik and a nephew, Gregory Petronio. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rich’s family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St. , with a funeral service following at 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association online at https://www. alz. org/?form=alz_donate.
