WORCESTER - Robert O. Cameron, 79 of Worcester passed away peacefully surrounded by his family while listening to his favorite genre of music “Broadway Tunes”.
He leaves his best friend, companion and his one true love Joan E. Cameron; 5 daughters that he truly cherished; Katherine Keane; Heather Cameron both of Auburn, MA, Kellie Giorgio and her fiancé, Brian Poplawski of Woodstock, CT; Erin Reardon and her husband, Sean Reardon of Norwell, MA and Megan Leazes of Worcester, MA. He leaves 4 grandchildren Jordyn, Ethan, Seamus and Norah, 2 great grandchildren, Jaxon and Levi. Many Nieces and Nephews that he truly treasured. He is predeceased by his parents, Murdock A. Cameron and Mariel (Trudeau) Cameron, his sister, Ruthie (Cameron) Plona and a brother, Alexander Cameron . Bob lived his life like a Dr Seuss Quote “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” and smile he did. Bob graduated from Commerce High School in 1964. In the fall of 1964, Bob proudly entered the army and was stationed in Germany, after serving his country he attended Becker Junior College and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Bob was employed by Henry L. Hanson, and retired in 2013 from Killeen Machine Tool. Bob had an unwavering passion for nature, you could always find Bob outdoors admiring any type of flowers and any type of bird. You could ask Bob anything about the outdoors and you would have an answers within minutes. Bob handed these qualities down to his daughter Heather (she was his mini me). Bob loved life and you could tell by the huge grin that was always on his face. He was a true gentlemen. You look up what a true gentleman is I guarantee there would be a picture of Bob with that big grin. He was the first to offer his assistance even on his final days. Bob found peace and serenity at the Cape. You would find Bob walking Smugglers Beach collecting his prize possession rocks (Yes, I said rocks). He would come back to his wife after a 2 mile walk and he would be loaded with his rocks that he would bring back to his trailer and he had a special spot for each rock. Bobs passion for hockey grew when his grandson Ethan started to play hockey at the age of 4. For 15 years you would find Bob at all of his hockey games, hockey tournaments and yes even some of his practices. Bob was dubbed “Hockey Grandpa” we awarded him with a sweatshirt that said Hockey Grandpa. He adored that sweatshirt and wore it proudly to every game. He felt it was a good luck charm for Ethan’s hockey team. I can say that Bob loved those kids and the connections he made throughout hockey, that was his hockey family too. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and the Salmon Hospice Care, you made Bobs life matter, and we can’t thank you enough. While everyone there was so genuinely kind to Bob, he did have one nurse that truly adored and loved Bob. The care and compassion she showed to Bob will not be forgotten. As the family says everyone needs a Rachel in their life. We thank you Rachel.
