Robert Cronin

WORCESTER – Robert D. Cronin, age 89, passed away in his sleep on January 9, 2023. He was the son of Michael and Julia (O’Connor) Cronin. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Patricia (Duggan) Cronin; a daughter, Lynn Sullivan (Joseph); grandchildren, Greg, Megan Naples (Christopher), Juliann Schiano (Gerardo), Kristina Marr (James), great grandchildren, Lily, Ryan, Patrick Naples and Nicolas Schiano, a sister-in-law Mary Cronin of FL; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by 7 siblings, Michael Jr. , Thomas, John, Joseph, Kathleen Callan (Francis) and Mary Cutting (Francis). Bob graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in 1951. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1951-1954 on the Destroyer Escort USS DeLong. He worked as a Union Ironworker for former Local 57 from 1955-1979. He then worked for UMass Medical School in security for 14 years. Upon retiring, he worked as a crossing guard for Wawecus Road School in Worcester. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:00 AM on Friday, January 13, at St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln St. , Worcester, followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St. , Worcester.
