WORCESTER: Robert J. OâBrien, 92, a resident of Chester, CT, formerly of Worcester and Shrewsbury, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chester. His first wife of 46 years, Christine (Zolnowski) OâBrien, died October 3, 1992 and his second wife of 10 years, Lucille I. (Nolette) O'Brien, died October 5, 2007. He leaves a daughter, Charlene O. Fearon, and her husband Lol of Chester, CT; a sister, Eileen Casey and her husband Bill of Spencer; three grandchildren, Caitlin Fearon of Pittsburg, PA, Cara Breeden and her husband Byron of Hood River, OR, Eric Beauregard of Seattle, WA; two sisters-in-law, Betty OâBrien of West Boylston, Betty Belevick of Worcester; a brother-in-law, Richard Zolnowski of Missouri; a step-grandson, Neil Fearon and a step great-grandson, Mason Fearon, both of New London, CT; and many nieces and nephews. Three children predeceased him, Christine Beauregard, Justin OâBrien and Robert J. OâBrien, Jr. He was also predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters, William, Edward, Jack and James OâBrien, Mary OâBrien, Loretta Auger and Claire OâBrien. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late William J. and Etta (Davis) OâBrien. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1940 and was an Army Veteran of World War II. He lived in Shrewsbury for 10 years before moving to Chester in 2007. Bob worked 35 years with the meter reading and credit departments of Commonwealth Gas Company. After he retired he worked for 8 years at Gould Title Company. He was a member of St. Josephâs Church in Chester, a former member of St. Anneâs Church in Shrewsbury and a former member of St. Bernardâs Church in Worcester, now known as Our Lady of Providence Parish. He was also a member of the Commonwealth Gas Retirees Association, the Greendale Retired Menâs Club, an at large member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an attendee of the Pastimes Adult Day Center in Deep River, CT and the Estuary Center in Old Saybrook, CT. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, ballroom dancing, and watching sports. Music was a passion of Bobâs late in life and he became a frequent guest soloist at a variety of community events in Chester. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, the New England Patriots and loved spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to Jacquelyn Mitchell for providing Bob with years of kind attention and care, Meg Gister for sharing his joy of music and Michael Fearon for his friendship and thoughtfulness. A CALLING HOUR will be held from 9:15 A. M. to 10:15 A. M. on TUESDAY, June 4 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 11 A. M. at ST. ANNEâS CHURCH, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow at St. Johnâs Cemetery.
