AUBURN: Richard L. âSkipâ Howard, 76, of 3 Alpine Trail, died in his home, Wednesday, August 6, 2008, after a short illness, with his family by his side. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Mary A. (Fiorentino) Howard; three daughters, June Contois and her husband Robert of Worcester; Karen Mulhearn and her husband Brian of Worcester, Joyce Howard of Oxford; a son, Richard Howard and his wife Paula of Charlton; a brother, John F. Howard and his longtime companion Sadie Mirante of Worcester; six grandchildren, Jill Howard, Robert Contois, Danielle Contois, Ashley Mulhearn, Aimee Contois, Brian Mulhearn; and many nieces and nephews. A brother James Howard, and four sisters, Ruth Sardagnola, Madeline Y. McDermott, Catherine E. Raymond and Geraldine St. Onge, all predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late James and Ellen (OâBea) Howard, and lived in Auburn since 1962. Skip was a printer at Norton Company where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 1994. He previously worked at Century Press for 17 years. He was a member of the Norton Alumni Association, a member and Past President of the Central Mass. Antique Auto Club, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Pinehirst Association in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, He traveled extensively and enjoyed camping. He was known for being a helper to all. There are no calling hours. After cremation, A GRAVESIDE SERVICE with his ashes will be held at 11 A. M. on SATURDAY, AUG. 9, in HILLSIDE CEMETERY, Auburn, MA.
