Valerie Louise (Cochrane) Corkum

February 11, 1957 — February 26, 2025

Foxboro

Valerie Louise Corkum (Cochrane), beloved mother to 5 children, originally of Foxboro, MA, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on February 26, 2025, just weeks after her 68th birthday.

She was born in Norwood, MA on February 11, 1957 to Richard and Barbara (Murphy) Cochrane, a police officer and school teacher in the town she spent most of her life, Foxboro. Despite battling severe epilepsy since the age of 5 and losing her father young, Valerie enjoyed a loving, fun-filled childhood with her brothers, cousins and community of family friends. She attended Mt. Ida and Curry Colleges, raised a family, worked as a special needs bus driver and further as a fierce special education advocate.

Valerie was a devoted mother to Jason, Matthew, Sarah, Caitlyn and Alexander, her pride and joy. She was never happier than when she was talking to or about her children and grandchildren, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.

Valerie took special joy in talking about books, politics and sports (especially her Patriots) with not only her children but anyone who would listen. She instilled her sense of hope, faith, and empathy in all of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Aunt Joan Rockett, and is survived by her husband, Paul; her children Jason, Matthew, Sarah, Caitlyn and Alexander; their spouses Anya, Steve (Andrews), and Diana; her much adored grandchildren, Jaxon and Benjamin; her brothers, Laurence and Sean Cochrane; her nieces and nephews, Becky, Kathleen, and Sean; and an expansive extended family, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foxboro Food Pantry in her memory.

Arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester.
