WORCESTER: William F. âBuddyâ Whalen, 89, of 557 South West Cutoff, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Rita L. (Donohue) Whalen; a son, Paul M. Whalen and his wife Katherine of West Boylston; a daughter, Mary E. Simmons and her husband David of Leicester; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great granddaughters. His sister, Maybelle E. Hanley, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester son of the late William F. Whalen, Sr. and Eva B. (Casavant) Whalen, and was a life long resident of the city. Buddy was a truck driver for 50 years and a member of Teamsters Union Local #170, AFL-CIO. He was a member of the FMCA and enjoyed tinkering with small motors. CALLING HOURS will be from 10 to 11 a. m. on THURSDAY, Oct. 2, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE in the funeral home at 11 a. m.
