William H. Carmody

WORCESTER: William H. Carmody, 74, of 22 Vinton St. , died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Holden, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth K. (Hayes) Carmody; 5 children, Katherine F. Neslusan and her husband Francis, Joseph E. Carmody and his wife Maureen, Patricia A. Vescera and her husband David, Theresa M. Costa and her husband Edward, Elizabeth M. Matson and her husband Brian; 4 brothers, Rev. James F. Carmody, pastor of St. Peterâs Church in Northbridge, Paul J, Cornelius J. , And Arthur R. Carmody, all of Worcester; 2 sisters, Catherine M. Lenderman of Newport News, VA and Mary Elizabeth Carmody of Framingham; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kara, Kimberly, Christina, Katie, Nicole, Matthew, Rebecca, David, Allison, Timothy, and Emily; a great granddaughter, Kaylynn; and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph E. Carmody of Worcester, died in 1940. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Joseph E. and Mary M. (OâBrien) Carmody, and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. Bill was a stationary engineer for many years having worked at Worcester City Hospital and at UMass Memorial Medical Center â University Campus. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Christopherâs Church. He was an avid fan of Boston sports teams and especially enjoyed attending the games of his children and grandchildren. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. David Shepro and his staff for the kindness and care shown to Bill. CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 P. M. on WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 14 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A. M. on THURSDAY, SEPT. 15 in ST. CHRISTOPHERâS CHURCH, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will follow in St. Johnâs Cemetery.
