WORCESTER: William M. Garrepy, 96, formerly of 23 Lancaster St. and 1050 Main St. , died Monday, January 28, 2008, in Parsons Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife of 28 years, Elsa L. (Rosenlund) Garrepy, died in 1979. He leaves two daughters, Linnea K. Garrepy of Syracuse, NY, Patricia A. Grant and her husband James of Worcester; a sister, Katherine P. Carroll of Worcester; his grandson, Richard W. Grant of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Archibald N. and Catherine L. (Hearns) Garrepy. He graduated from Commerce High School and was a life long resident of the city. Three brothers, Leo E. , Robert G. , and Raymond J. Garrepy, and two sisters, Rita M. McGrath and Frances I. Donahue, all predeceased him. Mr. Garrepy was an Army Veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service that was presented to him by former Congressman Peter I. Blute in a 1996 ceremony next to the monument on the Franklin Street side of City Hall honoring Medal of Honor recipient John V. Power. Two brothers of Mr. Garrepy also served in the military during World War II. He worked for 15 years as an electroplating specialist at H. L. Reed & Sons in Framingham, retiring in 1979. He also refinished antiques, was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed playing tennis. CALLING HOURS will be held from 4 to 8 p. m. on MONDAY, Feb. 4, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. After cremation, burial of ashes will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Westborough, at the convenience of the family.
